It’s a very exciting time to be in London because, following a week in New York, the fashion world has turned their focus to London.  It’s a wonderful chaotic time and throughout the amazing chaos I will try to bring to you my favourite designers and predictions for SS14 trends.  First up is Roksanda Ilincic.

Roksansa Ilincic may not be an everyday household name in my house or your house but it is in the White House and our famous number 10. Roksanda has famously dressed Michelle Obama, The Duchess of Cambridge and Samantha Cameron so it was with some expectation that I awaited her SS14 show in London Fashion week.

Roksanda is a famous collector of vintage Dior and this came through strongly in her new collection which was radical in it’s focus on striking separates. The skirts were full circle in bright yellows and tangerines and they were teamed with basic cap sleeve tops.

Ilincic is credited with making blush pink the colour of AW13 (you must have seen it hanging, in coat form, in both Zara and Topshop right now) so for SS14 we can only expect the brightest canary yellows, juicy oranges and harlequin purples to pop up around the highstreet and designer boutiques:

Despite her love of vintage Dior her show was totally modern – held on top of a London skyscraper and played out to the sound track of Philip Glass (the choice for Julien Macdonald too). It was a wonderful contrast of the old (full circle skirts, models with bows in their hair) played out against a modern back-drop.

A collection that’s fitting for all of us, not just a Princess!
